Insta-gone
I deleted the instagram app off my phone. I know I know, what is wrong with me right? Well…..there are many reasons why I did it. While I don’t want this to be a place where I get on my soapbox and ramble and condemn social media for it’s harmful effects on humanity, I do want to share my reasoning behind my decision and hope that it challenges a few of you somehow someway :). ...

Even if...
Even if I fail today, I am treasured by my heavenly father. Even if, every single thing i attempt to do today crashes and burns, i have infinite worth. Sometimes there are days were it feels like getting out of bed would be the most exhausting thing i could ever do. Or days when meeting with friends and acquaintances seems more burdensome than comforting.  When these days arrive I have a...

Balm to my weary soul.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” —Matthew 11:28–30

Praise the Lord
Psalm 134 “Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord who minister by night in the house of the Lord. Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord. May the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion.” Thoughts from discussion on this passage: “All you servants of the Lord who minister by night”.  This doesnt sound like a pleasant assignment....

Man! I Feel Like a Woman
I cannot tell you how exhilarated I feel! On a whim I decided to go for a bike ride on this beautiful day in November in Ohio (#ironic). I totally know it was a God breathed inspiration because what followed on the next three hours was ridiculous. The sun was shining, my ipod was on shuffle, and the bike path was open post-construction! Woo Hoo :). I have never explored the bike path by my house...

Good morning new day
This morning has brought about a closeness with the Lord and refreshing desire to seek His face above all else. I am so grateful to feel His closeness recently and it has radically changed how I have been living these past few days. I want to draw close to my father who forgives and extends grace upon grace; i want to fling all of my doubts and fears into His security and comfort while He sings...

These are the desperate longings of my soul this morning. The mulling and stirring that I feel is so refreshing. I am ready to abandon all and fling myself into the arms of my Savior.

C.S Lewis wisdom
When He talks of losing ourselves, He only means abandoning the clamour of self-will; once we have done that, He really gives us back all our personality, and…when we are wholly His we will be more ourselves than ever

I Want To Be Found
My goodness I haven’t written in here forever. i feel like im coming back to an old friend as I write in here. Feels good.  My life has been a whirlwind to say the least. I feel like im on this ridiculous roller coaster that is headed into a tunnel where I can’t see the path laid out in front of me. But little by little im getting more comfortable here. Lately I have found myself...

I like secular music and occasionally i cuss.
I said it. I can hear the gasps and the shaking of the heads of many around me. I enjoy listening to country, rap, pop, hip hop, gospel, alternative, christian, music. I know many people who have been adversely affected by contemporary music and its sometimes off-color subliminal messages. But the music i listen to and the clothes i wear and the way i cut my hair is my choice. The decision is...

A Prayer For When You Are On The Edge
‘OGod, I bless thee for the happy moment when I first saw thy law fulfilled in Christ, wrath appeased, death destroyed, sin forgiven, my soul saved…. I want no other rock to build upon than that I have, desire no other hope than that of gospel truth, need no other look than that which gazes on the cross… May my cry be always, Only Jesus! only Jesus! In Him I have all that I can...

How's Your Marriage?- Max Lucado
Mr. Lucado basically shuts it down in this here little diddy: When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow.  Ecclesiastes 5:4 How’s your marriage?  Consider it your Testore cello!  This finely constructed, seldom-seen instrument has reached the category of rare—nearly priceless.  Few musicians are privileged to play a Testore, even fewer...

At its most extreme, every mini-skirt becomes not only a threat to the fragile order women have established for mutual protection, it is perceived as an act of both betrayal and hostility towards one’s sisters. The hisses of “slut”, “whore”, and “bitch” soon follow.

Grief Takes Time-Max Lucado
Definitely need to remember this more often: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.  Matthew 5:4” James 4:14 says, “Your life is like a mist.  You can see it for a short time, but then it goes away.” We speak of a short life—but compared to eternity, who has a long one?  But in God’s plan every life is long enough and every death is timely.  And though you and I might wish for...

I Trade These Ashes in for Beauty
Redemption. This has been the theme of my week and I am overwhelmed by the significance of it in my life but also in the life of an Christ-follower. What Christ did on the cross redeemed us from our past, from our present circumstances, and from our futures that are yet to come. Christ was an atoning sacrifice for all of the sins of the world. I have heard this over and over again and yet this...

After a night of car alarms, people yelling and screaming all night and me getting little to no sleep…Jesus you are so refreshing. You always lead me to the exact right passage. Your ways are so mysterious! But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 59:16 Your strength, not mine.

Labels and Pigeonholes- Max Lucado
“Jesus touched lepers and loved foreigners and spent so much time with partygoers that people called him a lush, a friend of the riffraff.  Matt. 11:19” MSG Labels… He’s an alcoholic!  (Translation:  Why can’t he control himself!)
